Game 1
Whiting, IN - The Calumet College Baseball team finally hosted their first home games at Oil City Stadium to finish up their doubleheader against St. Xavier. The Crimson Wave led the series 1-0 going into the day but dropped game one of the day 5-0 in 8 innings. CCSJ battled back in game two of the day and defeated the Cougars 2-1 in 9 innings to win the series 2-1.
Game One: SXU 5, CCSJ 0
Andrew Davenport started on the mound for the Crimson Wave, going 6 innings with 5 strikeouts, giving up 7 hits and 2 earned runs.
The Cougars scored early against the Wave, scoring their 1st run in the top of the 2nd inning off a single through the right side.
St. Xavier extended their lead in the top of the 4th inning after a single through the left side scored 2 runs and a sacrifice fly scored 1 run, making their lead 4-0.
The final St. Xavier runs were scored in the top of the 7th inning after Anthony Rivera went to the mound in relief of Davenport, seeing 6 batters, striking out 2, and giving up 1 hit and 1 earned run. The Cougars scored 1 run on a single through the left side to secure their 5-0 win over CCSJ.
The Crimson Wave were quiet at the plate, only scoring 4 hits in the 7 innings and leaving 8 runners on base.
Game Two: CCSJ 2, SXU 1
Getting the start on the mound, Zach Zborowski went 8 innings with 4 strikeouts, giving up 3 hits and 1 earned run to the Cougars.
Davenport scored the first run of the day for CCSJ with a solo homerun in the bottom of the 2nd inning, giving the Wave their first lead of the day.
In the top of the 4th inning, St. Xavier tied the game after a sacrifice fly scored their first run of the game.
The Crimson Wave took the final lead of the game in the bottom of the 5th inning after a sacrifice fly from Sean Moore scored their second run to go into the 6th inning with the 2-1 lead.
CCSJ held their lead, only getting into some trouble in the top of the 9th inning after a walk and batter reached first base on an error. Julian Santoyo went to the mound in relief of Zborowski, finishing the inning with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts to secure the Crimson Wave's 2-1 win over St. Xavier.
Davenport led the Wave at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and Homerun.
