CCSJ Sprint Football to host 2024 Junior Day May 15
The Crimson Wave Sprint Football team will host its first Junior Day on May 15, 2024.
Whiting, IN – The Calumet College of St. Joseph Sprint Football team is hosting its first ever Junior Day in school history on May 15, 2024. High school juniors beginning their college search are invited to Junior Day at the Rittenmeyer Center in Whiting, Indiana from 8:45 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
The day will kick off with student athletes checking in as early as 8:45 a.m. They'll receive a full introduction from CCSJ faculty and staff, followed with an overview of the program and a tour of campus and uptown Whiting from head coach Jay Novak. The tour will give student athletes a full understanding of everything on and around CCSJ's campus.
Once the tour is complete, all student athletes will return to the Rittenmeyer Center for a Q&A with football leadership council (junior and senior captains currently on the team). Student athletes will later be broken up into position groups and talk directly with football coaches.
"This is year three of building a football program here at CCSJ and this is another step in our effort to bring students and community members to campus," Novak said. "This will allow those to see what CCSJ has to offer them."
Since the program began in 2022, the sprint football team has continued to push the slogan "Come Grow With Us." Wide receiver coach Zack Jennings feels Junior Day will be an exact representation of what that slogan "Come Grow With Us" truly means.
"This is the perfect opportunity to show student athletes that Calumet College is growing and getting better each and every year," Jennings said. "We're hoping to target local talent and grow our community engagement. We feel strong that this will do that and expand our program."
While CCSJ wants to engage with more local high school talent, they are not closed off to anyone across the country that may be interested in attending. All are welcome and must register before May 15.
