Crimson Wave holds off Governor State for 10th win

University Park, IL – The CCSJ men's basketball team used a second half surge to beat Collegiate Chicago Athletic Conference opponent Governors State 78-66 on Saturday, February 17 at the GSU ARC. With the win, the Wave earned their 10th win of the season and have now won three-straight games for the second time this season.
How it Happened
In the first match up since last season's 75-70 loss on November 19, 2022, Governors State got off to a 14-7 start putting early pressure on CCSJ. Calumet College (10-15, 8-10 CCAC) would respond with a 9-1 run to take the lead.
The Crimson Wave extended its lead to large as 12 in the first half before the Jaguars made a layup to close the first half and cut the lead back down to eight.
To start the second half, Governors State was able to cut into the deficit and bring the score within three. From that point on, CCSJ went on a 16 to 2 run to take its largest lead of 18. Calumet College's run was capped with two made free throws from Quindarius Davis, who had a game-high 14 points in the second half.
While taking any possible momentum from the Jaguars, the Crimson Wave cruised to the double-digit lead and earned its eighth CCAC win of the season.
As a team, CCSJ shot 29-of-59 (49 percent) from the field. Calumet College snatched a game-high 48 rebounds while scoring 36 points in the paint.
Crimson Wave Leaders
Colby Wiggins led all scorers with 21 points, while collecting six rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Quindarius Davis posted 18 and seven rebounds off the bench while Oshawn Lee chipped with 11 points, six rebounds and three steals off the bench. Floyd Davis added 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in the win.
