Crimson Wave Men’s Volleyball sweeps Culver-Stockton in season-opener
To open the 2024 regular season, the Calumet College of St. Joseph men’s volleyball team swept Culver-Stockton 3-0 at Missouri Baptist University on Friday, January 26.
St. Louis, MO – To open the 2024 regular season, the Calumet College of St. Joseph men's volleyball team swept Culver-Stockton 3-0 at Missouri Baptist University on Friday, January 26.
CCSJ never allowed Culver-Stockton to take the lead in the first set as they got off to a 13-7 advantage and won the set 25-21. The second set was similar to the first as the Crimson Wave got out to a 18-8 lead. Culver-Stockton scored six unanswered points to bring the set within four, but Calumet College scored five of the last six points to win the set 25-19.
Culver-Stockton took the lead for the first time in the third set. It wouldn't last long as CCSJ scored four straight points to regain the lead at 6-4. The Crimson Wave would expand the lead as much as eight and win the third set 25-19 to complete the 3-0 sweep.
Calumet College had its best performance in the third set as they tallied 14 kills while only committing three errors and posting a hitting percentage of .478.
Francis Hauze led the Wave with 15 kills and four digs. Agustin Moreno had 11 kills and two digs while Pedro Castillo had six kills and 14 digs. Brayden Richardson had 35 assists in the win as well.
