Crimson Wave Softball signs Black Hawk transfer, Lira, for 2023-24 season

Sterling, IL - Calumet College Softball signs Black Hawk College transfer, Matea Lira, for the upcoming 2023-24 season. 

Lira, a 5'9 outfielder, comes to CCSJ after two seasons at Black Hawk College in Moline, IL. While attending Calumet College, Lira plans on majoring in Criminal Justice and Forensic Science. Lira chose CCSJ because "CCSJ gives a sense of home yet adventure. It offers the challenges I need to further my success in adulthood. I know attending and playing ball here is going to evolve me into the best version of myself." 

Before attending Black Hawk, Lira attended Sterling High School where they were 3rd Place in the 2021 IHSA 3A State tournament, also running Cross Country and being a member of the Art Club. 

Coming into CCSJ, Lira is " looking forward to learning the ways of the justice system while playing the best, last two years of my softball career."
