Piper named CCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Junior right-handed pitcher Jacci Piper received CCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week honors for her performance this past week against Trinity Christian, Viterbo and Mount Mary University.
Chicago, IL – Calumet College of St. Joseph junior pitcher Jacci Piper was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week when the awards were announced Tuesday morning. Piper received this award along with Fiona Crane from Saint Xavier University, who was named CCAC Player of the Week.
This was the final weekly award given out this 2024-25 softball season.
In a span of six games in five days, Piper pitched in four of the Crimson Wave's six victories. In those four appearances, Piper only started at the mound once but earned a win three seperate times.
In a doubleheader against Trinity Christian on Wednesday, she came away with both wins in 7 2/3 innings of relief. She surrendered two hits and struck out two batters in that span. In relief against Viterbo, three days after facing Trinity Christian, Piper threw 2 1/3 innings, struck out one while giving up two hits.
The following day after facing Viterbo, Piper started at the mound versus non-conference opponent Mount Mary. In the 13-0 shutout, she pitched all five innings, struck out three batters and allowed four hits on 19 batters faced.
For the week, Piper did not allow an earned run in her 15 innings of work.
CCSJ's stellar week could not have come at a better time as the 6-0 week helped propel the Crimson Wave into the CCAC Postseason Tournament. They ended the regular season at 15-25 overall and 7-9 within the conference. The Wave's first game of the tournament will be Thursday, May 1 against St. Ambrose.
