Columbus, IN – The Calumet College of St. Joseph women's soccer team opened the 2025 season with a scoreless draw against IU Columbus at Circle K Fieldhouse at NexusPark on Wednesday.
The Wave (0-0-1) attempted four shots, but the one shot that was on goal could not find the back of the net. CCSJ defended 11 shots from IU Columbus throughout the game and freshman goalkeeper Kaleigh Blatti finished with six saves.
The bright spot of this result is much larger than just one match. A tie for the CCSJ women's soccer means it's the first time since September 22, 2021, that an opponent has been held scoreless. A defensive effort relentless enough to achieve this, could be the turning point for the program.
The Crimson Wave will look to carry this momentum into their next match as they host St. Mary-of-the-Woods in their home opener on Friday, September 5 at East Chicago Central High School.
