Ladies Open Season at Ambrose
The Crimson Wave Volleyball team will open their season on Thursday night when they travel to Saint Ambrose University for a CCAC conference match-up.
The Crimson Wave have a fresh look under first year head coach Sean McMorrow, returning five players from last years squad. Sincere Northern (JR/Indianapolis, Ind.) leads the way for the returners after tallying 214 kills during the 2019 campaign.
CCSJ adds transfers Makayla Watts (JR/Trenton, Ohio) and Jenine Boyles (JR/Olympia Fields, Ill. ) to this year's team, strengthening the Crimson Wave front row. Junior Rebecca Larios (JR/Whiting, Ind.) has moved from the backrow this season to lead the ladies on offense as the Wave's setter. Jade and Breonn Green (JR/Hammond, Ind.) return to this year's team giving the ladies experience in the front row and defensive positions.
Transfer Emma Sweeney (JR/Lockport, Ill. ) will take over as libero this season for CCSJ. Alexis Switzer (SO/Portage, Ind.) and Cassandra Flores (SO/El Paso, Texas) return for the Crimson Wave offense. Freshman Nayelie Lopez (FR/Humacao, Puerto Rico) will add depth in the front row from the right side while Tahtianna Pritchett (JR/Gary, Ind.) returns to her role as a defensive specialist.
"It is just nice to be able to get on the floor and compete. We recognize that at this point, we are isolated. The support that each of us can count on is in this gymnasium. The adversity and lack of support has brought the team much closer. Ancilla is overcoming a lot as well having two players just released from quarantine, they fought very hard. Now we will watch the film and try to get better every day." Said McMorrow
Thursday night's first serve will be at 7:00 pm. The match can be viewed via live stream here.
