Comino Couceiro, Aguilar-Martinez and Tanuis named to CCAC All-Academic
Chicago, IL – The Calumet College of St. Joseph women's volleyball team had three players named to the 2025 Women's Volleyball Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic team, as the complete list was announced Tuesday afternoon. The three players earning this honor are juniors Berta Comino Couceiro and Iraly Aguilar-Martinez, along with sophomore Kaylee Tanuis.
To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have been enrolled at their respective CCAC school for at least one academic year, completed at least 30 semester hours and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
Comino Coucero, a kinesiology major that's a two-time recipient of this honor, led the Crimson Wave this season in kills, kills per set, points, points per set, total attacks and total attacks per set. Defensively, she was second in digs, third in digs per set and tied for third in blocks. She also tied for first on the team in service aces.
Aguilar-Martinez, a psychology major that's also a two-time recipient of this honor, ended the season top five for the Crimson Wave in solo blocks with five and total blocks with 13. She also had 23 kills this year, which was the sixth highest of any player on the team.
Tanuis, a psychology and human services major, did not play much this season as she dealt with multiple concussions throughout the year.
